He has written about films for GQ magazine and the Huffington Post, and he has made a podcast about solitary confinement for Life of the Law. Maria Chiu is a McClatchy Video Fellow. She recently moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, to report on local stories. Prior to Columbia Journalism School, Maria was an associate producer for Oscar-nominated director Scott Hamilton Kennedy. Their recent documentary, Food Evolution, premiered at DOC NYC 2016. Maria made her first documentary under the influence of a UCLA professor who encouraged her to borrow a camera and start shooting.
