Synopsis

The players for a dwarf basketball team with five national championships are heroes on the court. But on the streets of New York, they’re outsiders—easily overlooked at just four feet tall. The Towers follows their struggle for acceptance in a world built for tall people.

Oliver Arnoldi

Oliver Arnoldi is a journalist from London. He was previously an arts writer at the Telegraph and a reporter at the Tibet Post in Dharamsala, India. He has written about films for GQ magazine and the Huffington Post, and he has made a podcast about solitary confinement for Life of the Law. His fiction is published in The Stinging Fly, an Irish literary magazine. He works at VICE News on HBO.

Maria Chiu

Maria Chiu is a McClatchy Video Fellow. She recently moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, to report on local stories. Prior to Columbia Journalism School, Maria was an associate producer for Oscar-nominated director Scott Hamilton Kennedy. Their recent documentary, Food Evolution, premiered at DOC NYC 2016. Maria made her first documentary under the influence of a UCLA professor who encouraged her to borrow a camera and start shooting.
