Bindings

Kathleen Scranton, an artist and mother, runs a small business with the help of her husband, Dennis, and youngest son, Christian, crafting old books into purses. Through this work, Christian, who is on the autism spectrum, has found purpose and a cherished community. Kathleen and Dennis, now in their mid-seventies, must confront what life will look like for Christian when they can no longer be there to support him. “Bindings” reflects a common reality for aging parents who care for adult children with disabilities, not because it’s easy, but because it’s often the best and safest choice.
